Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger says he
will spend the festive season
contemplating a short-term loan move
for club legend Thierry Henry.
The French forward is Arsenal's all-time
leading goalscorer and a statue of the
34-year-old was recently unveiled at
the Emirates Stadium.
He left the Gunners for Barcelona in
2007 and has since joined the New
York Red Bulls but he has spent some
time training with Arsenal since the MLS
campaign ended in November.
And, with forwards Gervinho and
Marouane Chamakh due to go to the
Africa Cup of Nations at the end of
January, Wenger has admitted that he
may sign Henry on a short-term loan
deal, as he is not needed by New York
until March.
"That's why I have Christmas Day off, I
have to think about that," said Wenger.
"Short term is ideal for us but I haven't
made any enquiry yet. Thierry is not
here at the moment and it has never
come up in conversation!
"January 1 is the vital date for us. We
have seven days to make decisions
and I will make a decision in the next
seven days on players."
